Intelligence

I have been told my entire life repeatedly that I am an intelligent person. This kinda rolled off me like water on a ducks back. Basically because I had nothing to do with it this is how God made me. Now I can be honest and say that at times I have felt arrogant because I understood something better than another person and belittled them. But for the most part I never really thought about it. But recently I was told by a highly esteemed man of God and business man that he believed I was the most intelligent person he had ever met. And went on to explain that I have a mind that is always green and wanting to grow. He told me I will always be chasing after wisdom and that the more I learn the more I will become aware of how ignorant I am. I read proverbs all the time and occasionally the book of wisdom in the catholic bible. So I can honestly say that I am intelligent today because I understand intelligence is simply the pursuit of wisdom and understanding.

What is the top 1%? (As far as the financial arena in America......)

Lets do the math.

Minimum to enter into this hallowed realm =250,000.00 per year

12 months in a year 20,833.33333333333 per month

52 weeks a year 4,807.692307692308 per week

365 days a year 684.9315068493151 per day

Networking

Many people would like to believe that life is what you make it. That it's really not that hard and have a  "just go with the flow type of mentality". These same people live with their parents and are fucking miserable. It's as arbitrary to me as fighting for womens rights. Real women have an input in their husbands lives thus having a voice in the world of trade and commerce albeit indirect.

Networking is this newfangled description for sales. Everything comes in waves nothing new under the sun. The world is not getting worse there are just more people haha! Anyhow, networking=sales. Some would say what do you mean? Well dumdum you have to sell everything in this life from start to finish. You have to sell your mom on the fact that you are hungry how do you do that? Well, you cry. If you work at Mcdowells and push a mop around in a bucket and talk about how exhilarating the Giants of New York's victory over the Packers of Green Bay and describe it as a triumph and  a most ripping victory, you have to be able to explain why you should be pushing that mop bucket around. Well, if you want to keep that job anyways!

Life is all about sales and positioning. If you're not selling you're being sold. Once you get an understanding of that, the world is a different place.

Family Dynamics

I was born to a white mother and black father. People generally are unaware of this fact until I tell them. It's never been an issue of shame for me really. I actually thought that we all changed colors when I was younger! I had a neighbor that was 6' tall when he was 12 and his dad is 5'5. So I also thought that at some point in time I will start shrinking as well! I have one sibling.

My father left our family a few months before my second birthday. Which left my mom isolated. After marrying my dad most of her family wrote her off because they were pretty racist I guess? So I grew up in a single parent household as many have. But, I live in a world where I'm viewed as black and I'm growing up in an extremely strict white household....on the poor black side of town.

My mother was extremely driven. She hated welfare and did everything she could to get off of it and get a job. I'm truly thankful for that. It angers me to no end that most white people that have no idea about what it's like to grow up in the hood or on welfare always have this fucked up opinion about how lazy young black kids are. My response to shut them up is If you grow up in a household where you never see anyone wake up and go to work everyday where are you supposed to pull this great work ethic and drive from?

As I said my mothers family cut her off. My dads mother moved him from New York to Oklahoma to keep him out of trouble or from being illegally jailed. There was a time (that of course is not in the history books the same way the Tulsa race riots were not for years) on the East coast during a lot of the civil rights movements they would just lock young black men up to "keep them from being a public threat". Anyhow him and his sister move down here. Then my grandmother followed shortly after. My grandmother was an entrepreneur she cooked dinners sewed peoples clothes and did what ever she could to make ends meet. I would like to think that I'm making her proud! My dads mother had 13 brothers and sisters. My dads father had 12 brothers and sisters. I don't know any of them or their families....

My mom has one sister who couldn't have kids. But she adopted two boys. My dad has one sister and she had two boys. My dads father died when he was a teenager.

My Mom's parents. My grandfather was racist I believe but after my sister was born he changed he loved playing with my sister. I only met him twice before he died. He and my mother had a really tough relationship. My grandmother is my heart. She loves me and I know it! She's always always always been there for me. She tells me I look a lot like her husband did when he was young.

Sooooo my family basically consist of  a grandmother, mom, dad, sister, two aunts and two cousins. Kinda small.... then add to the fact that none of us really get along! We never had family functions! So I can honestly say I have no idea of what the inner workings of a family are supposed to be except for what my wifes family has showed me. I have by far the best in-laws in the world. When I was a kid I used to pray that my kids would have grandparents that loved them. God answers prayers! My two children, which are my world, have just that, the greatest grandparents that this world has ever seen. And two loving Aunts!

My father would tell me during the few interactions we would have while I was growing up that I had to be better than him. I was happy to call him yesterday and tell him I'm doing better than you and this is just the beginning. We shed some tears and had a good talk I told him I have to Make QJ better than me. This is the assignment that God has given me. And  I grasp it wholeheartedly with everything that is within my power and control. I will not fail.

Family to me....is not that important. Relationships are, whether you're a family member of mine or not, I'm more concerned with the relationship. I have some great people in my life that are friends. People God has placed in my life that are not required to be in my life but choose to be. I cherish these relationships more so than any relationship I have with any of my family members except my granma.....

Pain cycle

I was recently talking to a good friend who works in the pharmaceutical field. He was explaining to me how often times people will wait until after they are in pain to treat the symptoms. And strongly recommended that I take a proactive stance. For instance his wife just delivered twins so she was on pain killers before during and after her c-section. For illustrative purposes he stated that if you flip a bike over upside down and placed a pill on the tire it would be up to speed the minute you start pedaling. However if you start pedaling and then try to place the pill it will likely bounce around and you are then chasing after the pain. I was telling him that I run occasionally. He said that I should take ibuprofen right before I start running. I haven't ran in about a month so figured I'd give it a shot. Made a huge difference! Which then made me think of the other types of pain we endure... Mental and emotional pain....I have to figure out how to be proactive in this area now.

Soul searching

I can say that for the majority of my life I have had the ability to read a person by the way they look at me. Eyes are the windows to the soul. It can tell the whole story without you even saying a word. However, some people keep their windows half closed. For whatever reason. You can't get in without permission no matter how hard you try. The best protection? Sunglasses. Me? I don't care what people think.... look at my life, my life story,....and I dare you to judge me. I have nothing to hide. I am who I am.
